MADISON, Wis. — Madison Police confirmed the presence of ICE in Madison yesterday, Oct. 2. Madison Police Chief John Patterson released a statement shortly after noon Oct. 3 saying the department was made aware of the actions after ICE had already left the community.
Centro Hispano of Dane County posted on Facebook that seven people were detained in a targeted enforcement operation on Madison's northeast side.
The local nonprofit reported that the arrests took place at a single residence Thursday morning that ICE had targeted.
Despite ongoing rumors of ICE activity in Madison, Thursday's incident is the first confirmed presence of ICE in Wisconsin's capital.
