OAKLAND — A Hayward resident who reportedly crashed a stolen car, severing a 42-year-old man’s leg and killing him, has agreed to serve four years in state prison, court records show.
Jose Gonzalez will be formally sentenced on Oct. 14, the day after his 36th birthday, according to court records. He has been in jail since May 2024 and will receive credit for the time he has spent behind bars.
Gonzalez pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter on Sept. 15. His sentence can be reduced by half with good behavior, according to court records.
