The City of Golden Valley announced Friday police chief Virgil Green has resigned following a months-long investigation into allegations made against him.

Green, who made history after becoming the city’s first black police chief in 2022, was placed on administrative leave in May.

Along with the announcement, the city released dozens of pages of documents from the investigations into Green, both conducted by independent investigator Michelle Soldo.

One investigation centers around the release of Golden Valley Police body-worn camera footage to KSTP-TV and "discussing possible obstruction charges against an assistant principal at a Robbinsdale district school," according to reporting by the news outlet.
