More than 20 Ontario residents who work in the province’s mining industry have a reason to celebrate — and not just because the weekend is here.

The group of 21 colleagues have been playing the lottery together for more than three decades — and their time for a win has finally arrived.

“I was at the grocery store when I discovered we’d won big,” Cory Goodfellow of Brighton said while he and some other group members were at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pose with the big cheque.

“After checking our ticket, the winning sound went off, and I immediately texted the group chat to let them know we’d won big!”

The father of two admitted he initially thought it was a mistake.

“At first, I was shocked and in denial. Even two days later, I still didn’t believe it!” Goodfellow laughed.
