**Flames Lose Ilya Solovyov to Avalanche; Rory Kerins Clears Waivers**
The Calgary Flames have lost defenseman Ilya Solovyov to the Colorado Avalanche after he was claimed off waivers. Solovyov, 25, had been vying for more playing time in the NHL and appeared in five games last season.
In contrast, center Rory Kerins successfully cleared waivers. The 23-year-old had a strong pre-season, scoring one goal and providing three assists in six games. He will return to his AHL team, the Wranglers, after a breakout season last year.
Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov also cleared waivers, allowing him to remain with the Flames organization.
Solovyov was under a one-way contract that extends through the end of the current season. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft and has participated in a total of 15 NHL games over the past two seasons. His departure marks a significant change for the Flames as they continue to shape their roster ahead of the upcoming season.
