SALT LAKE CITY – Gov. Spencer Cox has called the Utah Legislature into its first special session of 2025.

That gathering, slated for 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, will address a laundry list of state and local concerns, including some that may impact Cache County.

The big item on that agenda will be adopting new congressional district boundary maps ordered in August by the Third District Court to be delivered by November. A month later, the Utah Supreme Court refused to grant a stay of that order, letting the November deadline stand.

In a last gasp effort to deter redistricting, however, the Special Session will also “determine the best available data” as well as “scientific and statistical methods to use in evaluating redistricting plans.”
