BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - One of the three men charged in the death of a WKU student was on trial this week for a felony possession of a handgun charge.

Malik Jones was found not guilty by a Warren County jury Thursday on that charge that stems from the Ayanna Morgan murder case.

The 21-year-old WKU student was killed in July of 2023.

Jones, 32, also faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence in connection to her death.

Morgan died after police say she was shot and ran over by a car at her apartment complex in Bowling Green.

According to court records, he was transported from the Warren County Regional Jail back to a jail in La Grange, Kentucky on Friday.
