GUILFORD, CT. (WFSB) - The Guilford Town Green came alive Thursday evening as the community gathered for National Night Out, a free event designed to foster positive relationships between police departments and their communities.

While many police departments typically host this event in August, Guilford chose October for their celebration, taking advantage of perfect weather conditions for the outdoor gathering.

The town green featured a DJ, food trucks, contests and prizes as part of the community-building initiative. The event provides residents with an opportunity to interact with police officers in a non-emergency setting, helping to build community trust and allowing people to see officers in a different light.
