CROMWELL, Conn. (WFSB) - Parents in Cromwell and Middletown face uncertainty about whether school buses will run Monday morning as tense negotiations continue between DAATCO and the Teamsters union representing 110 school bus drivers and monitors.
The drivers have been working under an expired contract since July and have already extended the agreement three times. Now, union officials say they’ve reached their limit.
“No, no. We are at our final extension,” said Bryan Chong, communications organizer for Teamsters Local 671.
Drivers are waiting for a final offer from DAATCO over the weekend before voting on whether to accept the proposal. If the majority approves the offer, buses will run as normal Monday morning. If not, drivers plan to begin picketing at 5 a.m.
