The Florida Department of Transportation announced that a full detour on Jacksonville’s Main Street Bridge is planned for this weekend.

The agency said the bridge will close to vehicles Saturday, Oct. 4, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for electrical repairs to address electrical damage caused by a vessel striking the bridge on Aug. 19.

The closures originally included the Buckman Bridge, but the agency said that inclement weather forced them to cancel their plans. The Buckman Bridge work was set to include replacing finger joints, partial coatings, and steel repairs on I-295 over the St. Johns River.

Drivers should plan for delays and use alternate routes when possible. FDOT encourages travelers to stay informed by following @MyFDOT_NEFL on X, MyFDOTNEFL on Facebook, or visiting nflroads.com. Fo
