Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley held an emergency meeting Friday as the government shutdown entered its third day.
With no signs of progress on a deal getting done, local union workers gathered to express their concerns about their jobs and their paychecks.
Lilly Simmons works at the EPA office in downtown Boston and says she's unsure what's next.
"Starting on Sept. 30, we were all told to pause any projects coming up in the next week," she said. "We've been told this week to check our email every day to see if we're going back to the office."
Simmons joined a roundtable discussion led by Pressley about the shutdown.
"Tens of thousands of federal workers and contractors will miss paychecks if this goes on," Project Bread's Jennifer Lemmerman said.
She and fellow Democrats are
