REDDING, Calif . - More than 12 years after the remains of a woman were found by an Anderson-Cottonwood Irrigation District work crew, those remains have finally been positively identified. The DNA profile was uploaded into a DNA database and the results indicated the possibility the remains were Ms. Velma Lee, a woman who had never been reported missing and did not appear in any missing persons databases.

In March of 2013 the Shasta County Sheriff - Coroner's office called-in Chico State's forensic anthropologists with the university's Human Identification Lab for help identifying the remains, found behind the State Fish and Wildlife building near the Locust Street Bridge in Redding.
