MARYSVILLE, Calif. - A Yuba County Correctional Officer was arrested following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a female inmate.

According to the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, the inmate accused Correctional Officer Matthew Babb of sexually assaulting her after removing her from her housing unit under false pretenses on Friday.

Babb, employed at the Yuba County Jail since July 2020, allegedly transported the inmate to a location in Olivehurst, claiming it was for a medical appointment. The investigation revealed evidence, including surveillance footage and witness statements, that confirmed Babb took the inmate to multiple locations before and after the alleged incident.
