REEDS SPRING, Mo. (KY3) - “A self-exam could save your life,” said Ladona Weathers.

For October’s Buddy Check 3, during breast cancer awareness month, Weathers shares her family’s journey with breast cancer.

Weathers lost her mother, Beverley to breast cancer when Weathers was 25-years-old.

“She (her mother) had felt a lump years before it was diagnosed. By the time it was diagnosed it had gone to her brain,” shared Weathers.

Ever since, Weathers has been an advocate for taking control of your health.

“She never did self-exams. She never did mammograms,” recalled Weathers.

Little did Weathers know, how life-altering her own advice would be.

“I caught my cancer myself with a self-exam,” she shared.
