Cor Jesu soccer standout Maddie DiMaria has given a verbal commitment to play for the University of North Carolina, the 22-time NCAA Division I champion including last season.

DiMaria, the reigning All-Metro player of the year who helped Cor Jesu claim its second successive state championship in June, is among the nation's top players in the 2027 graduating class.

The junior striker announced her commitment Thursday on her Instagram account.

A speedy forward, DiMaria scored 45 goals last season including 11 game-winners. She tallied six times during the two-day state tournament including a four-goal effort in a 7-0 semifinal win over Nixa.

Earlier this week, DiMaria was named to the United States Women's Under-17 World Cup team that will compete Oct. 17-Nov. 8 in Morocco.
