The Texas Rangers' managerial search didn’t last long, and the team didn’t have to look far.
Skip Schumaker will move from the front office, where he served as senior adviser to President of Baseball Operations Chris Young, to the dugout, a person with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed Friday to The Dallas Morning News.
Schumaker, 45, could be introduced as early as Friday at what was originally intended to be a season wrap-up press conference. If not, the announcement may have to wait for an off day during the Division Series matchups, as MLB asks clubs not to make announcements that conflict with playoff games.
