The owner of Family Farms in Davie is leasing the property over to his mother as he faces allegations of animal cruelty .

Robert Hoover was arrested on multiple counts back in July. The popular spot closed its doors and authorities seized its animals.

“I’m backing out of the scenario. She’s going to be the one that’s going to run the operation," he said.

According to court records, the business will be handed over to Penny Hoover. The new name will be Grandma’s Family Farms. The agreement became effective on Sept. 10 and lasts for a year.

“She is going to open up and control the farm and be in control of the animals," Robert Hoover said.
