Daytona Beach's iconic Main Street arch has been restored and unveiled, welcoming locals and visitors back to the beach after an extensive restoration effort.

"I can be able to get my bike back on the ramp, and it's nice to just see all the revitalization of Daytona Beach," said Adam Reyes, a local resident. "It's nice to see things come back to life."

On Friday, city and county leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the restoration and preservation of the arch.

"Mother Nature did what she does. She took our sign away, and we have done what we are supposed to do, and we have replaced it," Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry said.

When engineers first discovered the exterior cracking of the arch, the city launched a nearly $1 million project to repair it.
