LAS VEGAS — The Phoenix Mercury open the WNBA Finals on the road against the Las Vegas Aces with Game 1 on Friday, Oct. 3.
The No. 2 seed Aces won, 3-2, against the No. 6 seed Indiana Fever, while the No. 4 seed Mercury upset the No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx, 3-1, in the best-of-five semifinal round. This will be the Aces' fourth Finals appearance since 2020 and the Mercury's first since 2021.
For the first time, the WNBA Finals has expanded to a best-of-seven series, which will follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format that will see the higher-seeded Aces hosting the first two games at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. The series will shift to Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix for Games 3 and 4.
Both teams have a clean injury report and will be at full strength.
