Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday on Friday charged a former police officer for shoving a 19-year-old and filing an inaccurate report about the incident this summer.

On June 6, Robert Magnifico — who served as sergeant with the Ellwood City Police Department in Lawrence County before retiring last month — was called to the Sheetz on 5th Street in Ellwood City for a dispute involving a forgotten iPhone.

The incident started when a 19-year-old man left his iPhone at the convenience store after ordering food with his 16-year-old friend.

The store told the man he could come back for his phone. However, when Sheetz staff did not return the phone, police were called.
