LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A former police sergeant in Pennsylvania was charged after allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old over a forgotten cell phone at a Sheetz store, Attorney General Dave Sunday announced.

Robert Magnifico was charged by the Office of the Attorney General with misdemeanor simple assault, official oppression, tampering with public records and unsworn falsification to authorities after an incident that happened June 6.

According to Sunday, Magnifico, working for the Ellwood City Police Department at the time, was dispatched to a Sheetz store on 5th Street in Ellwood City. A 19-year-old customer was reportedly in a dispute with staff over a phone he forgot in the store. It was alleged that the staff wouldn't give the phone back to the man. Sunday noted that the 19-yea
