NEW YORK (PIX11) – Bronx Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-NY) introduced the TRUMP Act on Friday.
The TRUMP Act, which stands for The Restrict Ugly Money Portraits Act, aims to prohibit any president from issuing currency with their own likeness and requires U.S. currency to only feature deceased individuals.
“America’s money should only feature big, beautiful faces—not big, ugly faces,” said Rep. Torres in a statement.
The legislation is a response to a design for a new $1 coin that honors America’s 250th birthday and features President Trump.
The design, which features Trump standing in front of an American flag with his fist clenched, was confirmed by United States Treasurer Brandon Beach.
