MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The idea may have originated in Portland, Oregon, with a female-centric sports bar called The Sports Bra.

And now New York City has its first female-owned sports bar with a spotlight on female sports.

Wilka’s opened less than a month ago, and on the first night of the WNBA finals, the crowd is evenly divided between The Aces and The Mercury, but they are united in one thought.

“I’m rooting for women,” Cassidy Peters, a Wills’s customer, told PIX11 News.

It’s New York City‘s first women’s sports bar, and its motto is “we watch women’s sports.”

Wilka’s is located at 241 Bowery.

It is owned by two women, and its name means 'wolf' in Polish.
