SEYMOUR, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating after a deputy with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office was injured in a crash Friday afternoon.

According to Tyler Basler with Sevier County, the crash happened after the driver of a pickup truck didn’t notice a car ahead had stopped to turn into a driveway on Boyds Creek Highway. The driver of the truck swerved into oncoming traffic and hit the deputy’s patrol car nearly head-on.

Basler said the deputy was evaluated at the scene and taken to LeConte Medical Center for minor injuries caused by glass fragments. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.

“The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office is thankful for the quick response of emergency personnel and the community’s concern and support,” Basler said.
