SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — As we enter fall, we start to experience colder weather, which can potentially lead to illness.
According to the CDC, influenza and the common cold are contagious respiratory illnesses. Some symptoms include fever, runny nose, sore throat, and others, which can sometimes lead to hospitalization.
Officials from the Siouxland District Health Department told KCAU 9 that while proper handwashing and staying home when you're feeling unwell can help prevent the spread of illness, they strongly recommend that individuals, especially those at higher risk, get their flu shots.
