Community members gathered at a vigil outside a Scarborough church on Friday to remember the life of a 19-year-old man shot dead at a mall in August.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow told the gathering that Daniel Amalathas was a giving person who had a promising future. Amalathas was found dead in a family washroom at the Scarborough Town Centre on Aug. 21.
"We gather here tonight in deep sadness, but also in love, love in Daniel and love for his family and his community and his church," Chow said at Malvern Christian Assembly on Sheppard Avenue E. near Neilson Road.
