An NBN outage in the Goldfields-Esperance region is preventing people from making phone calls — including to triple-0 — from landline services.

Police said the outage is impacting customers in Esperance, Bandy Creek, Castletown, Chadwick and West Beach.

“This may impact the ability to make phone calls, including emergency triple-0 calls from NBN landline services,” a police spokeswoman said.

The National Broadband Network published details of the outage online just after 11am Friday morning, revealing the outage was triggered at 9.37am by “a suspected hardware fault”.

It has affected 708 customers, with both fibre to node and fibre to building services impacted. Mobile networks have not been affected.
