HICO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Class AA No. 9 Midland Trail Patriots gave their homecoming crowd a night to remember Friday, pulling out a dramatic 20-19 win over the Class AAA No. 19 Nicholas County Grizzlies in a game that stayed tight from start to finish.

The Patriots and Grizzlies traded blows throughout the night, with neither side able to pull away. In the end, Midland Trail’s resilience paid off as they held on for the one-point victory, securing their fifth win of the season.

With the win, Midland Trail improves to 5-1 and will face a tough road test when they travel to James Monroe to take on the Mavericks on Friday, October 17. Nicholas County, now 2-3, will look to bounce back at home when they host the Bluefield Beavers in their next matchup.
