SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - First responders are trained to jump into action, regardless of whether they’re on duty or not.
Recently, one former Sioux Falls Fire Rescue member found himself at the right place at the right time.
“A guy stumbled up to the front of the front door of the bar and he’s saying, ‘I’m shot! I’m shot!’ and that’s when my wife turned and yelled, ‘Steve! He’s shot!’” said Steve Fessler.
When gunshots rang out in downtown Minneapolis last weekend, recently retired SFFR division chief Steve Fessler knew what to do.
“I think it’s just part of our nature as first responders to do that. You know, like they say, running into danger. It’s kind of one of those things that it kind of kicks in,” Fessler explained.
