We've reached the height of foliage season, and the leaves are showing the best colors they can with the current conditions.
And I know there is a lot of talk about how "bad" the colors have been so far, but in my opinion there's no such thing as "bad foliage." There is always beauty in the transition of seasons, even if the leaves are muted reds and oranges.
Unfortunately the dry weather is sending the trees past peak very quickly, especially in the higher elevations of South and Central Vermont, where the swath of extreme drought can be found.
