WAILUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Maui County Fair kicked off its second night Friday, once again drawing in tens of thousands of attendees.

The first day of the fair drew 30,000 people, marking the start of the four-day event with an iconic parade.

Parents like Lindsey Kong from Waikapu said the food is the highlight.

“We ate the patele, laulau, and the poke,” she said. “It was super good. We’re coming back on Saturday for the baby contest.”

Others, like fourth-grader Kaleb Sim Tumacder, said he enjoys being part of his community.

“I’m at the fair, enjoying the time and just spending time with my family,” he said. “I like that our community gets together and spend some time.”
