DULUTH — From the time Isaac Emerson was a child, his father spoke of the rivalry between East and Denfeld.
Emerson grew up in International Falls before transferring to East prior to his freshman year last fall, the same school where his father graduated. When Emerson was chosen as the Greyhounds starting quarterback this year, he circled the Denfeld game instantly.
“My dad graduated from here, so I’ve always known of the rivalry,” Emerson said. “This rivalry is built into my family, so I know how much this game means to our school and especially to our seniors.”
Emerson put on a show against Denfeld, as the 6-foot-4, 210-plus pound quarterback rushed for two scores and threw for another to secure East’s 33-6 win over the Hunters.
