The accident at the 2025 Okanagan Granfondo contributed towards the organizer’s decision to stop hosting the race in the valley.
A female cyclist was killed and two others injured along White Lake Road, near Penticton, after colliding with an automobile on July 13, 2015.
On Thursday, Okanagan Granfondo executive director Jodi Cross announced the discontinuation of the 14-year old event.
“It is clear it is now time to step back, reflect on the last 14 years and plan for new opportunities in the sport leisure and endurance arena,” Cross said in a press release. The release says Okanagan Granfondo will shift its focus towards gravel cyclists and racing.
