A woman was left seriously injured after tumbling into an open grave at a cemetery. The 46-year-old, who has not been named, lost her balance and plunged into the tomb at the municipal cemetery in Navahermosa, Spain earlier this week. ‌

A rescue mission lasting over two hours was launched with emergency services scrambled. Firefighters from the Toledo Provincial Fire Extinction and Rescue Consortium used ropes to create a specialist lifting system to hoist the woman out. ‌
