SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - After a dry September, with only 1.66” at SRQ (4.34” below average), rain chances are picking up.

. A weak area of low pressure will bring gusty east to northeast winds across the Suncoast, bringing scattered afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms. Strong winds continue through at least Saturday, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph in some storms. The winds and higher seas will keep boating hazards high for the weekend.

Moisture levels are expected to rise as an upper-level disturbance lingers over Florida this weekend. This will increase the chances for scattered thunderstorms through Tuesday. Rain chances are lower to end the week.
