Bhubaneswar: In a major success against illegal narcotics trade, officials from the Customs and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized over 3.2 kg of marijuana at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The contraband, valued at over Rs three crore, reportedly originated from Bangkok. A man from Kerala, who allegedly smuggled the marijuana, was arrested and is currently being interrogated, officials said. ADVERTISEMENT
The seizure is part of the department’s intensified efforts to curb the illegal inflow of narcotics into the country. The marijuana was carefully concealed, but routine checks by the Customs team led to its discovery.
