GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — One woman is in custody, and another is dead following a shooting in Greenville County on Thursday night.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to 1 Beattie Street around 10:30 p.m. following a 10 p.m. 911 call reporting an unresponsive female victim. Deputies arrived and found 29-year-old Kenoshia Yvonne Wheeler, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation uncovered that she had been in an argument with her partner, 33-year-old Deandra Dontia James, during which James shot the victim.

James was later charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. She was taken to the Greenville County jail.
