A new era of Celtics training camp has started this week after the departure of several players in the team’s championship core. New and younger faces have created a new element of competition in camp as the group tries to put together a winning strategy in the absence of Jayson Tatum and four departed veterans via trade and free agency.

Assistant coach Sam Cassell said on Wednesday in a radio interview on 98.5 the Sports Hub that this had been the toughest training camp he had witnessed during his 34 years as a player and coach in the NBA. However, Joe Mazzulla threw some cold water on that comment after Boston’s third training camp session of the week.
