RATHDRUM, Idaho — Under the Friday night lights, Lakeland High School in Rathdrum beat out thousands of other schools to win thousands of dollars. Now, they're chasing a million dollar prize — and votes to help them get there.
Lakeland High principal Jimmy Hoffman said the national contest is a "once in a lifetime opportunity."
Hoffman's school is competing against 25 other schools for a million dollars to upgrade their stadium and weight room.
Out of more than 2,000 applications to the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights contest, Lakeland's stood out.
"Their application stood out, in their story that told of their community and their football program," said Christie Lee, a senior manager at T-Mobile.
