A former San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office deputy accused of child sexual exploitation was apprehended in Mexico, according to the SMCSO, which on Friday said Jesus "Damian" Nieblas had been captured in Agua Prieta, Mexico. Mexican authorities handed him over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service at the border checkpoint near Douglas, Arizona.
Nieblas, 27, left San Miguel County after he was served search warrants on July 10. According to the affidavit for his arrest warrant, his truck was seen crossing the border into Mexico on July 11, the day after warrants were served on his Norwood home and multiple electronic devices were seized.
