DENVER (KDVR) — A former San Miguel County Sheriff's Office deputy facing child sex abuse charges was apprehended by Mexican authorities in a border town, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation announced Friday.
Jesus Damian Nieblas, 28, was employed as a deputy in San Miguel County until he resigned in June. Nieblas was reported to be "on the run from" dozens of charges related to alleged child sex abuse material found in his Norwood home and vehicle.
On Friday, CBI reported that Nieblas had fled to Mexico on or about July 10 after his home and vehicle were subject to a search warrant by CBI as part of the active investigation. Evidence that CBI recovered during the search warrant led to the issuance of a probable cause arrest warrant, the agency said.
