COLUMBIANA CITY & YOUNGSTOWN The varsity football game between Columbiana Exempted Village School District and Valley Christian Schools has been cancelled.

According to a live feed alert on the Columbiana Athletics website published around 10 a.m. on Saturday, the game was cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances at Valley Christian and the football program."

21 Sports has learned there was an "unfortunate situation" at a team practice on Friday, and the game was cancelled at the request of Valley Christian school administrators.

A statement , penned by President Michael Pecchia of Valley Christian Schools, was shared on the school's Facebook page just before 2 p.m. on Saturday, outlining an incident on Friday involving a fight and a firearm.
