WAREHAM, Mass. —

A Wareham man is facing charges for his alleged connection to a chemical explosion at his own home on Friday afternoon.

Mark W. Halpin, 50, was charged with possession of explosive devices and possession of materials used to make them.

He was held on $15,000 bail pending his arraignment on Monday.

The Wareham police and fire departments responded to Halpin's home on Aunt Maryville Lane after a reported explosion in the dwelling.

Responding companies found Halpin suffering from injuries at the scene. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, according to officials. Following Halpin's release from the hospital, he was taken into custody.
