CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa State was unable to overcome an early deficit as they collected their first loss of the season.
Cincinnati came out of the gate swinging on Saturday afternoon as they jumped out to an early 17-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
After trailing by as much as 31-7 in the second quarter, the Cyclones punched it into the endzone before halftime and converted on a 2-point conversion to narrow the deficit to 31-15 at the half.
After scoring a touchdown in the third quarter to narrow the deficit further to 22-31,the Cyclones and Bearcats each scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, with the Cyclones converting another 2-point conversion. It wasn’t enough for Iowa State, however, as they lose their first game of the year 30-38.
