BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Week five of Louisiana high school football brought important district matchups, breakout performances, and some insight on teams emerging as playoff contenders.

Dutchtown vs. St. Amant

Dutchtown scored 21 unanswered points and pitched a second-half shutout to beat St. Amant 35-28. The Griffins' offense came alive in the second half, ignited by quarterback Owen Fletcher.

Live Oak vs. East Ascension

East Ascension gets a big district win over Live Oak for homecoming, 38-21.

Catholic vs. Madison-Ridgeland

Catholic loses its second straight game in heartbreaking fashion against one of the best high schools in Mississippi, 27-26.

Zachary vs. Opelousas

Zachary dominates Opelousas at home, 51-6.
