WA Police have reportedly seized more than 100 firearms in a series of raids targeted at “sovereign citizens” in the wake of the fatal shooting of two police officers in Victoria.
A five-day operation across the metropolitan and regional areas netted the large haul, which Police Commissioner Col Blanch said was substantially informed by tip-offs from other firearms owners.
Mr Blanch and Police Minister Reece Whitby are expected to on Sunday publicly discuss the operation.
In total, 135 firearms were seized and 44 licences were cancelled or suspended, according to reports from WAToday on Saturday.
“It was not without risk, but its successful completion reduces future risk to our community and blue family,” Mr Blanch told WAToday.
