SCHENECTADY — Thirty-five years is a long time to go without defending home course advantage. But with all that waiting, it makes eventually changing the course of history feel all that much sweeter.

That was the kind of joy flooding through the minds and bodies of the Schenectady boys’ cross-country runners, as they garnered the program’s first team Division I championship in 35 years at the 86th annual Everett T. Grout Memorial Invitational Interscholastic Run at Central Park.
