PRINCEVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - In Princeville, it was what many call a ‘family affair’, as town natives and residents came together for the 4th annual homecoming celebration.

The corner of Neville Street and Otis Avenue was full of fun, laughter, and community as families, neighbors, and visitors gathered to honor the town’s history. With live music, food, and more, people came out to celebrate both the town’s past and its future.

Princeville is the nation’s oldest town chartered by former slaves, and the homecoming was a poignant reminder of the community’s strength, pride, and resilience.

The town has also endured hurricanes Matthew and Floyd, which have submerged the town underwater. Throughout all of the turmoil, the community here has stood tall.
