LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - More than 700 community members gathered at Hawk Island Park on Saturday for an Out of the Darkness suicide prevention and education walk.
The annual event has been going on for more than a decade, and organizers say it keeps growing every year.
Liz Baker, the Co-Chair of the Out of the Darkness Walk, says Saturday is about the community coming together for a bigger cause.
“It sends a message of connectivity. The most important part of today is that connection and support. Knowing that people are not alone and sending that message from the community. We are expecting about 700 people today, and it’s supposed to be a beautiful day of connection, support, and hope,” she said.
