PEORIA COUNTY, Ill (WMBD) -- The Peoria County Courthouse held a massive party to celebrate the 200th birthday of the county.

"Peoria County's 200 years of history belongs to all of us," said Peoria County Board Chairperson James C. Dillon.

Taking place between 3 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the courtyard of the Peoria County Courthouse, the Bicentennial Block Party featured live music, food, beverages, fun and games.

A new miniature bison was unveiled as part of a community-voted project. The new bison adds to the already existing herd of 35 bison that were moved to the newly renovated courtyard for the celebration.

Peoria County Board member Jennifer Groves said that while thinking of ways to celebrate 200 years, the board members thought of a known community project.
